Mad for Garlic - Friday - 30 May 2014

Happy kid

Hiding away from my camera!
Baby fooling around with my remote

Since is school holiday is more easy to meet up as these girls love dining with Alyssa so we decided to go Mad for Garlic for dinner.  Is my first time trying as I always don't get a chance to go last time when is located at level of Suntec cos I will always ending up eating other things and tends to forget that they are just located there.

Mad for Garlic is a Korean theme Italian restaurant, simply love the garlic decoration outside the shop and wide variety of wines available for ordering!  And there is always a queue whenever I passed by them luckily we did make a reservation.  So reservation is a must if you are going at lunch and dinner peak hours.

Garlic Bread Tower
Seafood Pasta
Lobster Pasta
Garlic Snowing Pizza
BBQ Chicken Range
Assorted Seafood Rice
Gorgonzola Cheese Pizza

We are actually deciding whether to have Dracula Killer or Garlic Bread Tower end up we have Garlic Bread Tower ($12.5) as we do not wish to be too ambitious cos there is still a lot of other food that we would like to try.

There are 5 of us so we each choose a main course to share so I choose Lobster Pasta ($23.50) a Garlic cream sauce base with lobster meat and fish roe perfect combination good to share cos if you eat too much will feel a bit creamy and will feel abit jek lak.

Alyssa's choice (we describe to her about the pizza) is actually one of our choice - Garlic Snowing Pizza ($22.50). Sweet garlic pizza topped with shrimps and pineapple.  When it is served they also shave some cheese on it!  Cheese lover will love it!

Assorted seafood rice ($22.90) - it is cooked with spicy pepper seed and assorted seafood.  A tad oily but is really nice love the spicyness and the fresh seafood!  I love the way they de-shell the body of prawn cos is easy to eat too!

BBQ Range chicken pizza ($21.40) Hot BBQ sauce, vegetables spicy grilled chicken and cheese.  Chucks of chicken can be found love the green that goes well with this combi!

Gorgonzola Cheese Pizza ($21.40) very unique way to eat this cos you need to dip into honey which is served together with it.  Alyssa simply love it cos of the honey dip happy girl eat alot too!

After all these we feel that we should go for one more main to share so we ordered seafood pasta (tomato base) The seafood really fresh and sauteed with the original Italian tomato sauce.  Shave cheese also added in the pasta after served!

We are all happy ladies with happy food.  With Amex card promo we have 25% discount so total we paid only $131.35 good deal!  Overall we love the dining experience, service is prompt as well

Earl Grey Cookies

I dunno why I woke up feeling fresh and energetic ... so I decided to give a try baking the Earl Grey Cookies.  I was inspired by Jolene's niece cos she baked and pass us one bottle to try so I went to search for recipe and try it.

Here are the ingredients I use:

  • 190g of plain flour
  • 4 packet of Earl Grey Tea leaves (I use 4 packet can reduce it as I find it too much of it)
  • 227g salted butter (can replaced unsalted butter but must add 1/2 teaspoon salt)
  • 3/4 cup (after converting is 93g of icing sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Procedure

Use a Eletcric Mixer at a low speed mix the tea leaves and flour together first.

Add in butter, icing sugar and vanilla essence I use medium speed to mix everything till dough is formed.

After dough is formed wrapped it up in a plastic wrap .... but I do not have a plastic wrap at home I leave the whole mixing bowl into the fridge for 30mins.

Dough is very soft just like German cookies so is hard to shape it with cookie cutter so I just roll into small ball and slightly press on.

Preheat the oven at 190ºC

Baked for 15mins till the edge is turned brown and let it cool.  Please peek more often as it will over baked at times do not leave it till the oven *ding* sound is out!

Ta dah!  Here you are my first time trial on Earl Grey Cookies colleagues say it tasted good .... heehee try it will not regret!

Went Openrice to collect my vouchers with PL, AL & Wendy .... another good reason for me to write hard in order to go for more shopping!

After collecting the vouchers we headed to Skinny Pizza at Wheelock Place for dinner and Sam, Ivy and Angela were already there and had made some orders so I could munch on something from their sides :P

We shared a 3 for $18 side dishes - Truffle Fries, Harrisa Prawn, Sweet Potato nibbles, Beef, Chicken and Pork Sausage.  We also have Squid Ink Pizza and Chicken Satay Pizza I prefer the Chicken Satay Pizza love the sauce and overall food is quite good.

After dinner we went for a walk and met the Museum of Horror - The Twins.  The beautiful make up really impressed me!

After walking around we decided to rest at Robert Timms ...... coffee, chit chat really very relax and happy to get to know more friends through Pauline!

Goh love 卤肉饭 so I suggest going to 八度空间 located at Katong to have our dinner. Quite a number of diners there when we step in.

Since there is promotion on the Taiwan beer we ordered and drink it and decided to keep 2 bottles cos Goh is driving and he didnt want to risk though the percentage is low I an say he is very responsible!

I ordered their XO sauce fried Chee Cheong Fan the taste surprise me not too oily and yummy.  As for his 卤肉饭not to his expectation and is small in size.  Lucky we still have salted chicken and cheese fries to go along with the food.

Food is not too bad ..... and guess the most love is the beer we had :P

Today is Hari Raya Haji so this little gal went back home to stay one night with us and we are going to bring her back to in law's place.  So before heading back to in law's place we went over to Katong Shopping Centre to buy some dessert and so coincidentally I bump into my bestie - Valerie!

She is going to visit a friend and I brought her to the dessert shop so she can get some dessert for a friend too we chatted for awhile before parting.  Nice bumping into her cos is been a while since we last met everyone so busy with work and personal life!

MIL make steamboat today so I also bought some food to go along with it.  Good to have steamboat some time ..... and I actually love to eat steamboat just that my Man dun really like it.
